SEWM Award Winners

A leading social enterprise from the Black Country was recognised recently when the sector’s biggest regional competition came to a major finale.

REPC, a specialist in the safe disposal and recycling of unwanted IT equipment and furniture, were among the main winners at the Social Enterprise West Midlands (SEWM)-backed event. REPC were presented with the SE Planet award, which recognises ‘an organisation that really is saving the environment.’
REPC Ltd is an ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified social enterprise that specialise in recycling IT and related equipment for reuse by charities and community groups. REPC collect, securely data wipe and refurbish computer equipment and repair mobile phones and tablets.


They also add value and contribute to corporate social responsibility goals by:
• Calculating Carbon Savings;
• Sourcing local suppliers;
• Employing local people;
• Working with local schools to promote the benefits of recycling for reuse; and
• Providing access to computers and the Internet for disadvantaged communities;
Social Enterprise West Midlands is the leading business network for social enterprise in the region. SEWM inform and promote a sector that is worth more than £35m locally.
Melanie Mills, chief executive of SEWM, said: “Our sector is experiencing significant growth and is increasingly being viewed as an important economic driver…it is only right that we recognise the organisations, enterprises and individuals that are making it happen.
